Our company - A disruptive story
Founded in 2017, ASDevices is based in Thetford Mines, Québec, Canada and has its roots in a long history of innovation for the gas chromatography and gas analysis world. ASDevices is proud to be the only entirely own Canadian company to design and manufacture this type of technology. This history dates back to 1992, when Yves Gamache, the CEO, developed the K2000, the first digital trace nitrogen analyser for the air separation industry. The analyzer was not affected by moisture in the sample or calibration cylinder, a common problem at this time. Thanks to a novel method invented by Gamache, the use of a permeation tube to add a specific level of water to the plasma in order to reach an operating plateau, combined with the use of a molecular sieve 3A trap, reduced substantially H2O interference. Later on, this method was refined and a patent filed for. This first revolution in terms of performance and reliability brought Yves Gamache and André Fortier, his long-term associate, to start Contrôle Analytique. This company developed between 1995 to 2007, the K2001, a nitrogen analyser that became an instant world success and is still considered a standard for the air separation industry.
It also developed the K2002, an improved design of the K2001, for the semiconductor industry and the K3000, which was the first reliable crude argon analyser. Finally, a complete process GC R&D programmled by André Lamontagne, now president of ASDevices, has given birth to the K4000. The K4000 was the first plasma emission detector-based process gas chromatograph offering a complete graphic interface and parallel real-time chromatography with built-in industrial I/Os, built-in sampling system, and remote Ethernet connectivity. Almost two decades of innovation later, the team pursued their goal to revolutionise the industry by founding Analytical Flow Products in 2007. This company developed the most reliable and the most efficient chromatographic valves on the market. From 2007 to 2017, AFP has become the leading brand of GC valves. All those decades of experience have provided a whole lot of new ideas, know-how and experience to start ASDevices, which will have once more a disruptive effect in the industry.

Based on our substantial IP portfolio, 30 years of experience and a strong track record, we pride ourselves as being an innovation catalyst for our OEM business partners. ASDevices, a division of Mécanique Analytique, is involved in applied research, design and manufacturing of technologies and solutions for the analytical market. The combination of our technologies, unique product architecture and OEM business model is what makes us innovative and different. All of our solutions are designed based on what we have called, the Scalable Building Block concept. This concept has proven to be successful amongst our customers by providing them with more time to use their wealth of knowledge on resolving their customer challenges based on our tailored and cost effective OEM solutions. Soon enough, ASDevices will be the most prominent one-stop supplier of analytical devices for OEMs and system integrators of the gas analysis industry. Based on more than 14 patented technologies, the product portfolio is offering the innovative Enhanced plasma-based detector*, integrated analysers, the first End of Life (EoL)* and intelligent getter-based purifiers, modular GC ovens*, innovative analytical/industrial fittings*, GC valves* and more.
In terms of plasma-based detectors, ASDevices has already released the Cubed and the SePdd which are plasma emission detectors based on the Enhanced plasma discharge (Epd) technology*. These detectors give more versatility and precision than any other plasma emission detectors available on the market. ASDevices has also released its first analyser from the Sense series, the N2Sense. This is a fully integrated analyser, with the Epd technology* and the spectral compensation technology*. With these technologies, it can reach a limit of detection below the 1 part per billion (ppb), 10 times more sensitive than existing technologies, and does not suffer from cross-interference. The Sense series will also include the GCSense. The GCsense will offer multiple online, compact, pre-packaged GC applications. The purifier line includes the iPaps, the ASDPure and the KnightGas, a noble gas quality detector. Modular ovens are the iMOv and the miniMOv. Fittings are the LipLOK and the ASDLok. GC valves are the InProve series. The InProve is shipped and included in the GcSense series and in ASD prepackaged GC submodule, the GC series.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Mauntz received his diploma in Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern in 1982, earned a doctorate with honors in Engineering from the University of Siegen and is a Professor at the Szent Istvan University (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) in Hungary. He has worked extensively in the analytical and process instrumentation industry, at AEG AG, in Germany, as the Head of the Department instrumentation and control.
He is the founder, CEO and Head of Development and Research of cmc Instruments GmbH which develops and manufactures analytical and measurement systems.
